3. How to use CBT?
Help & Information
In this video, you will learn how to use C.B.T. to get rid of jealousy.
An example of a jealousy-inducing situation might be that your partner is talking on the phone. You may think, "My partner is flirting with someone". You feel angry, and possibly sad. You may also have a physical reaction, such as increased tension in your body. In terms of behavior, you may try to listen in on the conversation or restlessly pace or walk around the room.
What you need to do is focus on that initial jealous thought, "My partner is flirting with someone", and then replace it with a realistic thought. Perhaps, "My partner is talking with someone on the phone, which is okay because my partner loves me and I can trust her".
If you focus and believe in this new, more realistic thought, then you will feel happy and more relaxed. Your body and your behavior will return to normal and you can move on in your day and in your life without jealousy constantly being present.
C.B.T. basically consists of finding your jealous thoughts and replacing them with realistic thoughts.
