You might think that alcohol is a very powerful tool to overcome jealousy. Sorry to crash
your belief, but you are wrong. Together we will see why and how.
Alcohol has been taken over the time by some people as a way to deal with their jealousy
issues. They have thought that soaking all the negative thoughts in alcohol could relieve
them from their tendency of being jealous. It may have worked just that particular time
when you were with the bottle in hands, that’s the impression you got. But way too long this
is not exactly the case.
When you are drinking you feel like being in the nebulous for some time. Your body is at
ease and you might think it’s alright. But what actually happen is that your brain is too
indulged in the methanol and your thinking is not so clear, worst they go in an inappropriate
direction. What you have in mind is not actually what you say. Furthermore the way you see
yourself is not the same as if you were sober.
A fundamental fact about you and your jealousy tendency and issues is that you have to be
truthful about who you are and the reasons why you are jealous. You have to be sober
enough to identify towards who or what your jealousy go. But, under the influence of
alcohol you will deny everything about those facts, clearing that you are not jealous.
Besides, the impression you have about you being strong, cool and else is not exactly the
same as when you are sober. Alcohol twists them all wrong.
Take two sheets of paper and answer to the following questions under the two conditions
(sober and under alcohol).
1. How do I see myself?
2. What are the things I want to achieve?
3. Who are my friends?
4. What influence they have on me?
5. How do I react towards them?
6. Am I jealous?
7. Why am I jealous?
8. What are the thoughts that cross my mind when dealing with jealousy?
You will clearly see that your answers are not quite the same. While someone suffering from
jealousy will see himself strong under the influence of alcohol or worst, aggravate his
jealousy state with all kind of negative thoughts, someone sober will clearly help himself
with the proper identifications made.
By doing this experience it will clearly help to know at point you are. Because the first step in overcoming jealousy and recovering happiness and confidence is to understand and admit where your problems are.
